So no, the bike lane will not force bicyclists to use the bike lane only. The first line in the post contains a link to a second post that shows a cross-section of the striping plan. We tried to get back-in parking, but in this we were not successful. So the parking treatment is something of a compromise. Still, we believe this is a good start to making downtown bike-friendly.Salem Breakfast on Bikeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15618055627843335993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666195730630249633.post-8622685702763351692009-07-11T10:41:23.909-07:002009-07-11T10:41:23.909-07:00A bike lane adjacent to diagonally parked cars? Isn't it impracticable to ride too close to the parked cars? Wouldn't a bike lane ghetto us over to the right and *require* us to ride too close to the parked cars?

The only way to reduce congestion is to *discourage* automobile traffic. Good luck with that in Salem.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01246097889660302797noreply@blogger.com
