Tell Rep. Evans to Support Safe Routes for All, SB 395

Support more bike bill! The Bike Bill expansion finally has a hearing, tomorrow, March 4th.

via the Street Trust

Last month BikePortland had a conversation with Senator Prozanski from the Eugene area. He's sponsoring the proposal to expand the Bike Bill, SB 395, and it's been stalled in the Joint Transportation Committee. They finally shook it loose for a hearing tomorrow.

Rep. Paul Evans' District

If you live in South Salem or West Salem in Representative Evans' district, he's the lone Salem-area legislator on the committee.

Tell Rep. Evans you'd like to see more money devoted to low-carbon transportation, including walking and biking, and better safety!

Added note on support from Cherriots.

BikePortland has a wrap, unfortunately with a good bit of organized opposition. But there were some good things too:

"[O]ne retired lawmaker stole the show. Al Densmore, 74, served in the state legislature from 1971 to 1975 and was mayor of Medford for six years. He was also a co-sponsor of the original Bike Bill and personal friend of its creator Don Stathos. 'I’m here to provide some historical context,' he said."
