The paper has additional details today:

"Two vehicles and a bicyclist were involved in a crash Monday at Cordon Road and Sunnyview roads NE that cut off traffic lights for several hours.

A witness reported the crash at 1:39 p.m., when a northbound 2008 Mazda M5 driven by Lee Meyers crashed into a 2004 Ford Focus traveling west on Sunnyview Road.

The Focus crashed into a bicyclist, Sandra Drumm, 55, of Salem, who was stopped at the intersection. She was taken to Salem Hospital where she is listed in fair condition.

The driver of the Focus, Brian Herren, 33 of Salem and Meyers, 65, of Central Point were not hurt.

The Mazda also hit a traffic control power box, shutting down the traffic lights for several hours. The cause of the crash is under investigation."

How frightening, to be stopped and unable to get out of the way of a high-speed crash, which apparently did not harm the drivers. Hopefully Ms. Drumm will be able to make a speedy recovery.
